Good news! The Spotify integration on Now-Playing.top v2 Beta is working again. 🎵
After Spotify changed the way its API works, our shared Spotify connection could no longer support everyone reliably. We have now added a new solution that allows users to connect Spotify using their own Spotify application.
What's new?
Spotify now has a new User API option under Now Playing Source:
Direct API | User API | Via Last.fm | Via ListenBrainz
When you select User API, Now-Playing.top will guide you through the setup step by step. You'll see the Redirect URI you need and instructions for creating your own Spotify application.
Once connected, you can continue using your Spotify integration normally with your existing:
- 🎨 Widget styles
- 🔑 Widget tokens
- 🎵 Now Playing information
- 📊 Listening history
You can also switch between the available Spotify sources without having to set everything up again.
Why was this needed?
Spotify changed the rules for applications using their API and introduced stricter limits for how many users can connect through one application.
Because of this, we needed to change how Spotify connections work on Now-Playing.top.
The new User API option gives each user their own Spotify connection and avoids these limitations.
Thanks for your patience while we worked on this. 🧡
Spotify support is available again on Now-Playing.top v2 Beta! 🎉
